Photo-etched metal parts and documentation needed to model the components of Airborne Radio Installation (ARI) 5083, Gee Mk.II, that are visible in the cockpit of a typical wartime Mosquito FB.VI (UK or continental Europe-based), or Coastal Command Beaufighter TF.X. Structural mounting hardware details are also included. To date, these often used components are missing from almost all Mosquito and Beaufighter kits in all scales. Although the new Tamiya 1/32 scale Mosquito FB.VI is an exception (i.e. ARI 5083 main components are included), this set offers both finer detail, particularly for the mounting hardware, and the pictorial coverage needed to accurately replicate the interconnecting cables.
Sold out
• Small series precision photo-etched brass production, based on both primary source technical documentation and careful interpretation of the photographic record.
• Brass parts for one complete installation in either the Mosquito cockpit or the Beaufighter rear crew station.
• Four 8.5 x 11in. pages of documentation with photographs, period technical materials outtakes, finishing notes, and clear scale illustrations.**
*Both parts make-up and detail representation are handled differently in each scale due to practical size and final assembly limitations. The Beaufighter mounting details are included in all but the 1/24 scale set.
**High resolution b&w supplied in the package. Home-printable colour PDF versions available via email after purchase (similar to Aviaeology Decals ‘n Docs series decal sets).
Usage scope:
• Production Mosquito FB.VI aircraft subsequent to serial number HJ743 in service in various RAF Commands in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. May also have been retrofitted to individual earlier-production FB.VI examples still in service through 1944-1945.
• All Beaufighter TF.X aircraft in Coastal Command service (both front line and Coastal OTU) on home airfields in the United Kingdom from very late 1943 through to war’s end.
• While the mounting hardware parts are specific to the Mosquito and Beaufighter installations, this set may also be adapted for use in models of numerous other larger (i.e. not single-engined fighters) aircraft types in the Allied air arms operating within range of the UK-based network of Gee Stations from mid 1943 through to war’s end. Most larger Coastal, Bomber, and Transport Command RAF types carried Gee equipment.
